Privacy policy

This privacy policy explains how HowSoonIs ("we", "us") handles information when you visit howsoonis.com (the "site"). We keep data collection to a minimum: you can use every calculator without creating an account or telling us who you are.

1. Information we collect

Information you enter into tools. Dates and numbers you type into calculators are used only to show you the result. Some tools, including the death clock and longevity calculator, run entirely in your browser and send nothing to our server. Tools that put a date in the page address (for example a shared date duration link or a custom countdown) are processed by our server to build the page.

Messages you send us. If you use the contact form or email us, we receive your name, email address and message. We use these only to reply and keep the correspondence for as long as needed to deal with your request.

Server logs. Like almost every website, our hosting provider automatically records technical information such as your IP address, browser type, referring page, pages requested and the time of the request. These logs are used for security, troubleshooting and to keep the site running, and are deleted on a regular schedule.

2. Cookies and local storage

Cookies are small text files stored on your device. The site itself uses:

• ltd (cookie, 30 days): stores your device's current date, for example 2026-10-02, so countdowns match your local calendar. It contains no personal information.
• theme (local storage): remembers whether you chose light or dark mode.

Third-party services described below, such as Google, may also set cookies when you visit.

3. Advertising: Google AdSense

We use, or may use, Google AdSense to show advertisements. Google and its partners are third-party vendors that use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this site and other websites.

4. Analytics

We may use privacy-respecting analytics, such as Google Analytics, to understand which pages are useful. This information is aggregated and is not used to identify you personally. You can install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

5. How we use information

• to provide and improve our calculators and content;

We do not sell your personal information.

6. Your choices and rights

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site will still work, although countdowns may then use our default time zone (US Eastern). Depending on where you live, including under the GDPR in Europe and the CCPA/CPRA in California, you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal information we hold about you, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information for advertising. 7. Children's privacy

The site is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

8. Data security and retention

We use reasonable measures to protect information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS). We keep contact messages only as long as needed to handle your request, and server logs only as long as our host retains them for security purposes.

9. Third-party links

Our pages may link to other websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites and encourage you to read their privacy policies.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time, for example if we add new services. The "last updated" date at the top shows when it was last changed.
