About HowSoonIs
Fast, accurate answers to everyday date questions: how soon is it, how long ago was it, and what day will it be?
Why this site exists
Almost everyone asks a date question at some point in the week. How many days until a holiday? What is the date 90 days from today for a contract deadline? How many business days until a payment is due? Which week number is it for a work schedule? The answers are simple in principle, but counting on a calendar is slow and easy to get wrong, especially across months of different lengths, leap years and weekends.
HowSoonIs was built to answer those questions instantly and clearly. Every page leads with the answer, then shows the working: calendar days, weeks, months, business days, weekends and the exact day of the week. Nothing needs to be installed, there is no sign-up, and every tool is free.
Who runs HowSoonIs
HowSoonIs is an independent website created and maintained by Shaban Shoukat. The site is designed, written and checked by hand. If you spot a mistake, have an idea for a new calculator or want to suggest a holiday we should add, we genuinely want to hear from you on the contact page.
How our numbers are calculated
Countdowns count whole calendar days from today to the start of the target date. Today counts as day zero, so tomorrow is one day away. Business days are Monday to Friday; public holidays are not removed, because they vary by country, state and employer. Weekends are counted as full Saturday–Sunday pairs that fall inside the period.
Holiday dates are worked out from the rule that defines them rather than typed in by hand where possible. Thanksgiving is always the fourth Thursday of November, Memorial Day is the last Monday of May, and Easter is calculated with the same method churches have used for centuries. Holidays that follow lunar calendars, such as Ramadan, Eid, Diwali, Hanukkah and Chinese New Year, use published calendar dates. Islamic holidays can move by a day depending on the local moon sighting, and we say so on those pages.
Pages show numbers based on your own device's date, so a visitor in California and a visitor in Karachi each see a countdown that matches their own calendar. Live timers use your device clock.
Our standards
- Accuracy first. Date rules are tested against official calendars before they go live.
- Answer first. The result is always at the top of the page, never hidden behind a click.
- Original writing. Our guides and holiday articles are written specifically for this site.
- Privacy. Calculators work without accounts, and several run entirely in your browser. See our privacy policy.
