Deadlines and business days

"Business days" on this site means Monday to Friday. Public and bank holidays are not removed, because they differ between countries, states and organizations. Legal and contractual deadlines are often counted under specific rules (for example, whether the first or last day is included, or what happens when a deadline falls on a weekend). For anything with legal or financial consequences, confirm the date with the court, agency, lender, employer or a qualified professional.

Holiday dates

Fixed-date and rule-based holidays are calculated automatically. Holidays that follow lunar or lunisolar calendars, including Ramadan, Eid al-Fitr, Eid al-Adha, Diwali, Hanukkah, Passover, Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur and Chinese New Year, use published calendar dates. Islamic holidays can differ by a day depending on the local moon sighting, and Jewish holidays begin at sundown. School dates such as "back to school" and "last day of school" are typical dates only; check your district's calendar.

Time zones

Countdowns use your device's date and clock. If your device's time or time zone is set incorrectly, results will be wrong too. Time zone conversions follow the international time zone database, including daylight saving changes, but governments occasionally change these rules at short notice.

The death clock, longevity calculator and life in weeks pages are for curiosity, reflection and motivation. They use broad population averages and simplified, illustrative adjustments for lifestyle factors. They cannot predict when any individual will die and are not medical advice. If you have questions about your health, please talk to a doctor or other qualified health professional.
